thursday thoughts

We opened! It happened! My dream come true!

I have been beyond thrilled to welcome the first patients into clinic this week! The office already feels like my home away from home. If you’ve been in, then you have met my team- Ashley and Tami who have been rockstars through the whole launch process. I am grateful for the tremendous support my friends and family have provided as we worked towards this moment.

I wanted to take a minute to talk about imposter syndrome. Many of us feel imposter syndrome- the feeling that we don’t deserve the things we want- in life or in work. I have felt that many times throughout my career as a physician- as a melanoma researcher, as Chief Resident, as a dermatopathology fellow, and even as a consultant for the pharmaceutical industry. When I feel nervous or unsure, my brain takes that as further proof that I “do not deserve” to be doing this work. In reality, the nerves are what keep me motivated. The nerves keep me learning the latest scientific research and keep me asking questions to better understand complex scientific questions.

What if we changed the story we told ourselves? What if we recognized that our nerves are normal? What if they are even helpful- pushing us to learn more and try harder?

Elite Dermatology Physicians is the outcome of a million hours of hard work and a dream to provide dermatology care on my terms. No one deserves this more. I can’t wait to serve my patients for many years to come.

See you soon in the office!
